Lowlands
The band Lowlands began outside Toronto’s Great Hall busking for concert goers waiting in line to get into the venue. Since then a year has nearly past. Their album is out online, but little information is available about the band since their formation. It would seem that they want to be known for the music and not much else. I have to say, listening to them play a show quietens the room with presence.
There is something to be said about that dream of freedom. The one where you live your life in detachment of all societal dependancies that keep us away from being in touch with ourselves, with our sense of freedom. Lowlands reminds me of that seriousness to honour the other creative voice inside you. Maybe it’s the steel guitar and banjo sounds the band singer Gordon Auld has that reminds me of a simpler fictional time, but there is definitely an integrity to the music heard in their performance.
We will keep you updated on any further news we hear, but in the meantime you can download their single ‘First Kill’ from their website .
