Friday Treats: Robin Pecknold (Fleet Foxes), Beirut & Athletes In Paris

OK so technically it’s not Friday for everyone right now – but after you listen to what I have for you below you won’t care what day it is!

I take it the main reason you clicked on this post was due to the name Fleet Foxes. Yes if you’re anything like me, that name sends small sparks of folk charged shivers down your spine. Lead singer Robin Pecknold (aka Fleet Foxes) randomly released 3 songs he had written on twitter, simply because he had nowhere else to put them. Complaining? Hell no! The second track even features Ed Droste (Grizzly Bear).

1. Robin Pecknold (aka Fleet Foxes) – 1. ‘Derwentwater Stones’ 2. ‘I’m Losing Myself’ ft. Ed Droste 3. ‘Where Is My Wild Rose‘.

I have featured Beirut on The Grapevine before, but when I came across their recently released single ‘Santa Fe’, I had to share. Showing you a more cheerful side to their often deeply emotive music, it’s definitely worth the click of a button.

2. Beirut – ‘Santa Fe’

I’m not going to bore you with a description of this next song. Think vibrant, contagious and grossly addictive! Good luck only listening to it once.

3. Athletes In Paris – ‘Borrowed Time’.
